Biobased Polyether Polyols Innovation During Ane Olazabal’s Stay at INTEC, Argentina

Polykey strengthens international collaboration in advanced materials research in Argentina. Our PhD student, Ane Olazabal, is spending two months at INTEC (UNL-CONICET) in Santa Fe, working with Roque Minari’s group under the supervision of Ludmila Ronco. This exchange, part of the EU Ionbike 2.0 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions program, fosters global innovation in sustainable materials and promotes a circular economy approach.

During her stay, Ane is developing next-generation polyurethane coatings using our innovative biobased polyether polyols. The work focuses on the synthesis and characterization of these high-performance polyols, which combine durability, flexibility, and chemical resistance while significantly reducing environmental impact. By replacing fossil-based feedstocks with renewable resources, this research contributes to the principles of a circular economy and sustainability in industrial applications.

Polykey’s proprietary technology produces polyether polyols from biomass, available in diverse molecular weights and structures to suit a wide range of applications. They deliver excellent mechanical strength, temperature resilience, hydrolytic stability, abrasion resistance, and dynamic performance. Custom copolyethers and functionalized polyethers are also offered, making them a versatile, sustainable solution for high-performance industries.

At INTEC, testing is underway on different formulations of our polyether polyols, followed by in-depth characterization to assess their potential in advanced polyurethane coatings. Polykey’s participation in this project demonstrates our commitment to advancing high-performance, eco-friendly coatings technologies, and to delivering sustainable, commercially viable materials for a greener future, aligned with circular economy principles.
