The REMAP Project Kicks Off to Advance Sustainable Polymerization
The REMAP project, supported by POCTEFA, has officially started, marking a significant step forward in sustainable polymerization. On March 12th, 2026, partners met in Donostia-San Sebastián to kick off REMAP, bringing together academic and industrial experts from POLYMAT, Arkema, POLYKEY, and Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour.
REMAP aims to leverage machine learning to optimize polymer production processes, reduce environmental impact, and develop bio-based polymers for greener materials. During the kick-off meeting, partners discussed the project structure, timeline, and first-year activities, and defined collaboration strategies to ensure efficient implementation of sustainable polymerization.
This project builds on our ongoing work in polymer research. Over the past years, our team has contributed to several cross-border and collaborative projects, including initiatives in green chemistry, bio-based monomers, and advanced materials development. By combining experimental research with data-driven approaches, we continue to explore innovative solutions for the polymer industry.
Supported by POCTEFA, REMAP benefits from cross-border cooperation between Spain, France, and Andorra, which allows academic and industrial partners to share expertise, accelerate knowledge transfer, and translate research into practical and sustainable polymer technologies.
Key objectives of REMAP include:
- Development of bio-based (meth)acrylic monomers from renewable sources
- Application of machine learning for polymer property prediction and reaction optimization
- Production of high bio-content materials for industrial applications, such as adhesives and 3D printing
- Integration with ongoing projects to enhance innovation and sustainability
With the REMAP project officially launched on March 1st, 2026, it marks the beginning of a new phase of collaboration, innovation, and real-world impact. Together with our other projects, REMAP strengthens our commitment to sustainable polymerization and the advancement of green chemistry in the industry.
Stay tuned for updates on REMAP and our ongoing initiatives in bio-based polymers and sustainable materials!
